[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]well, the world was certainly a cold place, wasn't it? the small ginger kitten was struggling to sit up, his fat paws shuffling awkwardly beneath him, stubby tail writhing around on the dusty earth. sitting up was hard. he let out a huff of annoyance, and dropped down on to his belly. there, that was much easier. the problem was he was hungry.

the kitten frowned, and twitched his small, pink nose, wondering where exactly he could find some food. it was somewhere close, he could smell it, but he wasn't exactly sure which way to go. even if he knew where to go, he didn't know how to get there. it was all very confusing, and overall a big inconvenience for the poor guy. he let out another loud sigh, followed by a high-pitched yowl of complaint. i want food!

[i'm thinking we can start playing them around two moons old, perhaps? c:]

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]the warehouse was a rather large place, especially for a small kitten, barely two moons old. to jack, the building seemed to go on almost forever, and it often took him a good five minutes to stumble from one end to the other. his paws were still clumsy, his legs short and uncoordinated. walking was a real challenge that called for complete concentration.

this particular day, jack had decided he was not only going to cross the warehouse, but he was also going to take a peep outside. the small, ginger ball of fluff was making his way across the floor, fat paws shuffling awkwardly beneath him. "c'mon, just one paw in front of the other." he mumbled to himself, bright yellow gaze focused on his feet. he glanced up once, tripped, then continued. "one, two, three...um...five..." he frowned. counting was hard.

suddenly, a flat, hard object collided with his head. the tom kit let out an oof and fell backwards. he landed on his rump, blinked, and shook his head quickly. the warehouse door stood before him. suddenly, his eyes lit up with excitement. "i did it! i did it!!" he cried, looking around with a broad grin for someone to celebrate with, then frowning when there was no one. ah, well, he could celebrate with himself.

smile returning, jack scrambled to his paws, and shuffled a few more steps forward to poke his ginger head out the door. a cold gust of wind hit him in the face, and he let out a screech of shock, suddenly leaping backwards. "frog guts! it's so cold!!"

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]at the sound of his mother's voice, jack jumped a little and turned around. "hey, no sneaking up on me like that!" he said with a pout. "it's not fair." with another huff, he sat back on his rump, frowning in thought.. he'd get used to the cold, apparently. that was good. right?

he tilted his head, thoroughly confused. "is it always this fuh-reezing in the outside? it's all nice an' warm in here, why can't the outside be warm?"

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]recently jack had discovered that the outside world was harsh and cold. it was warm and cozy in the warehouse, so after calculating the pros and cons of each situation and having a careful inner debate, the young tom decided he would stay inside. the outside just wasn't worth it, he thought. the unfortunate thing was that the inside was kind of boring.

today, the son of sheer and dee had decided to amuse himself by decorating. his momma's den was awful boring, just flat and brown and plain, so he'd gone exploring and found a box full of weird plastic butterflies. they had been in six's den, or the office as some called it, and jack just hoped no one would know they were missing. if he had been human, he would've known they were decorations for the office window, to make sure birds didn't fly into it.

but jack had found a much more useful thing to do with these strange objects. he had dragged the little box across the warehouse, a significant feat considering it was almost his size, and finally come to a rest outside his momma's den. then, humming softly to himself, he began pulling out the butterflies one by one and sticking them to the box. they were red and blue and pink and yellow, all sorts of colors to liven up the place. the small tom grinned, pleased with the way things were going. maybe he'd put them all over the warehouse, if their were enough left.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]warehouses could get boring when one had been in them one's entire life. and for jack, that was his reality. he usually managed to busy himself though, and fortunately, today was no exception. boredom forced him to think, which brought out new ideas, which brought more adventures. and generally speaking, he had a blast.

today, the bright ginger ball of fluff had discovered the ladder leading up to the loft. it had been hidden behind a pile of boxes, but after he'd run into them head first, they'd come tumbling down and revealed the ladder behind them. jack's yellow eyes lit up with excitement. the first rung of the ladder presented a bit of a problem, considering it was an inch or two above his head, but jack loved a good challenge. so, backing up, he took a run and leaped. he missed the first two times.

frowning in concentration, the kit backed up a third time. "here goes!" he squeaked, and took off. his little body flew into the air, his paws made contact with the rung of the ladder, and he scrambled on top. "i did i--" his yowl of triumph was cut short, as quite suddenly, his momentum pulled him forward and off the other side of the rung. his small body went tumbling back to earth and collided with the warehouse floor. the kit let out a groan and rolled over, scrambling into a sitting position, shoulders hunched, glaring at the rung. "this is your fault." he grumbled. "can't you just be a lil bit shorter? pretty please?" he paused, waiting. nothing happened. the kit stamped a miniature paw in frustration. "if you were nicer, you'd be shorter."

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]jack's eyes widened in shock. this was new information. a new discovery! oh, how exciting! "yuh mean it's not always an ice block?" he squeaked. a shiver ran down his small spine, and his ginger tail fluffed up behind him. what would it be like when it was warmer, he wondered? "will it be warmer today? tonight, maybe? tomorrow? oh, i know! maybe if we ask the outside real nice, it'll get warmer! what do you think? i think it'll work." the kit opened his mouth into a broad, toothy grin, pleased with what he believed to be a genius idea.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]at the sound of someone laughing, jack leaped into the air, surprised. he turned around and quickly flattened his fiery pelt. "hey, no sneaking up on me like that!" he whined, and put on a pout. his annoyance was quickly forgotten as the girl continued, and his maw split into a wide, toothy grin. "i found 'em in six's den! oh but don't tell him, i don't wanna get in lotsa trouble, okay? our secret."

with that, he returned to his box and pulled out a rather large, hot pink butterfly. he quickly decided it was his favorite. the kitten stuck it on his paw, staring at his den, frowning and sticking out his tongue in concentration. he just had to find the right spot to put it. ah, there! he pressed his paw forward and attached the butterfly right in the middle of a few bright blue ones. "there, it's pur-fect." he stated, then his eyes suddenly widened and he twisted around to look at his newest friend. "oh, i mean, unless you wanna put one on, then it's not really totally perfect yet. it's just almost perfect, and you can put one on and then it'll be perfect!" he grinned sheepishly, hoping he hadn't already screwed up this friendship.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]at the sound of an unknown voice, jack craned his neck, squinting up at the loft. it was only then he realized the place was awful far away, and the distance made it kinda blurry and hard to see. eh, that was probably normal. "hey miss, you're awful far up in the sky!" he called. as she continued, he laughed and puffed out his chest. she thought he was a moons old? how amusing. "oh no miss, i'm act-oo-ally two moons old. pretty neat, huh? and i wasn't yelling at it, i'm ever so sorry if i woke you up." the tom grinned sheepishly, then frowned. "hey, how'd you get up there? can you fly?"

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]being only two moons old, jack wasn't able to travel very far. he had been practicing crossing the warehouse and walking probably, and it was not until today that he decided to go exploring outside the building. the first time he'd poked his head out it had been too cold. but today, it seemed a little bit warmer, or at least he thought so. the small ball of fluff was waddling his way along the edge of a brick wall, humming to himself, fat paws shuffling in the snow beneath him. it was this fashion of walking that caused him to trip.

something that jack couldn't see beneath the snow caught his paw, and the little ball of fire flew forwards, landing with an oof on his chest and face. he pulled his head from the snow with a gasp. "oh my goodness that's cold!" he declared, shaking snow from his fur. it was only then that he noticed the black feline resting a few inches above his head.

the tom held back a squeak of surprise and slapped his tail across his maw. "whoop-sees, don't wanna wake up the kitten, no no nope." he shook his head, and promptly began to creep past her. or at least, he thought he was creeping. his movements were exaggerated, staying on his toes, eyes wide, tail straight out behind him like a stick. his paws crunched loudly in the snow wherever he stepped, but he refused to believe he was anything short of a stealth ninja.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]exploring the warehouse was a fine way to start his day. sure, jack had been around a few times at this point, but he always seemed to discover something new every time he went out. today, it was some fascinating wooden crates packed away in a corner. as far as he knew, the only boxes in here had been the odd cardboard ones which his clanmates seemed fond of using for beds. these crates, however, were a new concept to him.

with a grunt, the fiery ball of fluff scrambled onto the nearest one, teetering on the edge a moment before regaining his balance and marching along. wow, he could see the whole world from up here! well, except for the back corner. that seemed kind of dim and blurry for some reason. he shrugged, deciding he would worry about it later.

jack hopped on to the next crate, wobbling a bit. he peered over the edge and let out a squeak of surprise. there were two kittens in there! his balance wavered, his eyes widened, and suddenly--"woah...woah!" he tumbled forward, a squeal escaping his small maw as he collapsed inside the box, right on top of the two sisters. he gasped and did his best to scramble off of them. "oh, ohmigosh, i'm so sorry i--oh, excuse me, that's your tail, i um--oh, oops! sorry, pardon me!" the tom felt a rush of warmth in his cheeks as he did his best to get out of the way.

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]as the ball of black fur spoke, jack froze. oh crap. he'd woken her up, hadn't he? smiling sheepishly, the kitten shuffled into a sitting position, staring at his paws. realization dawned in his yellow eyes at her suggestion. "hey...that's a good idea!" he chirped, and promptly began to prance in a circle, lifting his paws high above the snow. he grinned and allowed his gaze to flicker sideways. "that better?"

she seemed to be interested in other topics unfortunately, such as his fur. jack frowned and sat back again. catch a cold? that sure didn't sound good. but when she compared him to a hedgehog, he couldn't help grinning. "what if i wanna be a head...umm...head-hodge?" good grief, that was a big word. ah well, it didn't matter. he forced his fur to fluff up even more around him, making him appear to be an almost perfect circle of spiky red fur. he grinned, thoroughly pleased with himself. "i like my fluff. lotsa fluff is good. you sure don't have a lotta fluff!"

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]as the feline spoke, jack's innocent eyes widened in amazement. he had barely heard her first few words, as the ones that followed were much more interesting. so she could fly! he was right! he grinned, please he had guessed correctly. he was pretty smart, wasn't he?

as she spoke, he puffed out his chest and shook his head. "oh no miss, i won't tell anyone. you can trust me. promise." remembering his excitement, the kitten grinned and leaped to his paws. "wow-ee you can fly! i wanna see! can you come fly down here? hey, maybe you could teach me how!"

[align=center][fancypost bgcolor=; borderwidth=0px; bordercolor=; color=white; font-family: trebuchet ms; width: 350px;][justify]had xerxes fallen into one of the dumpsters? oh, how odd. personally, jack thought she was too cool for that, but maybe he'd been wrong. perhaps her flying powers had failed her this time.

the ball of fiery ginger fur waddled over and sat back next to florence, his back paws sticking up slightly in the air. he tilted his head and frowned. "is she stuck in there? i think she looks a little stuck. hey, maybe we should res-koo her! we'll be jack and flo, best res-koo-ers ever!" the tom kit puffed his chest out, trying his best to look brave. but then his gaze flickered sideways, he caught sight of florence, and burst into a round of giggles.
